I don't think you would have trouble becoming accustomed to PS in very short order. But I understand its printing capabilities are very good. I have used Lightroom only a very few times, long enough to conclude every time I really, really don't like it. Printing from Photoshop is perfectly straightforward and logical. I have used Photoshop since its initial release and find its philosophy of design and UI one of the best examples of clear thinking and logical workflow.

If it's possible to turn off color management in the printer using the supplied Canon driver, as has been suggested in this thread, then why would I need the PSP plugin in Lightroom at all?

If I understand correctly, the Print Studio Pro (PSP) plugin is required when printing from Lightroom if you want to allow LR to handle color management and disable it in the printer.īut it's surprising to me that the process would be different in Photoshop than it is in Lightroom, given that both are Adobe programs. Unfortunately for me, I do 80% of my printing in Lightroom. This is exactly the issue that I had seen reported. I haven't seen any information that PS has any problem printing to the Pixmo Pro 100 in Catalina.Ĭanon has apparently indicated that the issue will be addressed. I'm getting a new iMac 29" which, of course will come with Catalina. I'm not familiar with that program, nor with Lightroom which apparently uses the PSP plugin.

No idea when Canon will have a fix available.Īnswering my own question, the problem appears to be with Print Studio Pro which is a Canon program and 32 bit rather than the requisite 64 bit required by Catalina.

The buggy driver version is 16.40.00 with a date of.
Is that true?īe aware that there is currently a bug with the Canon Pro-100 driver and Catalina. Is this correct? If so, is anyone here using this printer with Lightroom with good results? I do about 70-80% of my printing from LR these days, and about 20-30% from Photoshop.Īlso, a couple recent, negative reviews said the driver hasn't been updated for OS X Catalina. This is exactly what I've done with the SC P600 for years.
The author of the review said this means you can't use ICC profiles for specific papers and then have Lightroom or Photoshop control the color output. However, as I was researching, I came across a few negative reviews on B&H claiming that it's not possible to disable color management in the PIXMA Pro driver. And with the current holiday rebate, it's only $149 net, which is a steal. I print mostly on glossy or baryta paper. From what I've read, it seems to be a great choice for low-volume users who don't need 17" wide and don't print a lot on thick matte papers. I don't need a 17" wide printer anymore.įor these reasons, I'm thinking of replacing the SC P600 with a PIXMA Pro-100. I'm not printing nearly as much these days, and I'll often go weeks between prints.
